RAW MATERIAL AND MATERIAL EFFICIENCY IN THE NEW FEDERAL STATES OF GERMANY AND BERLIN

In the field of raw material and material efficiency, numerous companies and research institutions are very active in the new federal states of Germany. Here, new materials and production methods are investigated and used in practice. Thus, for example, the company Compound Materials GmbH from Freiberg was awarded - together with the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology and the Department of Nonferrous Metallurgy and High-Purity Materials of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg - the German Raw Material Efficiency Award 20146 in the category Competitiveness. The consortium from Saxony has developed an innovative automated procedure for recycling gallium from industrial wastewaters.  

Concerning this, the VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency offers advice, support and technical know-how regarding the questions of resource efficiency. (more..)
