Current energy projects:

  • Until 2020, it is aimed at energetically renovating all viable schools and day care facilities in the federal state. This goal is set with the innovation and investment programme STARK III, which was started in Saxony-Anhalt in 2012. With seven pilot projects and two sample projects, which are managed by LENA, the vision of nearly energy-self-sufficient and climate-neutral public buildings is materialised. After the renovation or the new construction, these business expansions comply with the passive house standard.
  • Research projects SECVER (Distribution Grid Security and Reliability toward a Future Energy Supply System)
Development and testing of solutions, which can be used to keep the electrical distribution grid both continuously and reliably in a stable condition - despite the fluctuating feed of decentralised green electricity producers. For this purpose, new approaches in the form of innovative algorithms and systems for grid monitoring and grid control are developed in the consortium.
  • Project Battery Storage at the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF
Here, investigations and analyses are to be performed, which prove the application scenarios for battery storage systems by real investigations. The following question must, for example, be investigated: Under which technical or market-oriented aspects can such systems be used for reducing the impact on the electrical infrastructure, for the avoidance of peak loads and for the increase of the output capacity? For this purpose, the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF has - since the beginning of the project - a battery storage system with an output of 1 MW and a charging capacity of 0.5 MWh.
